Recovered .blend files not opening

So I had acidentally deleted some old .blend files off an external drive (flash drive). And I thankfully managed to recover them via Disk Drill. However when I try to open them in Blender (I use the lastest version (4.2.1)) I get this error.

“Unreadable Blender library file. Unrecognized file format”

Which was weird because they never did that before. So i looked online for answers and some solutions were to check autosaves. I dont know what happened but all my autosaves pre-September 4 are just gone. So I cant recover them since these were made before that and I dont know where they went.

But then as I looked at the files again, I noticed that there was data in there, like there was actual stuff in there. So my models had to have been there.

Note how the file sizes are large.

So I had seen I could use append, and when I do that. I get the same error.

Can I fix this? Is there a way I can salvage these or is there nothing I can do?

In Notepad++ do they start with something like “BLENDER-v421RENDH” as normal .blend files do? EDIT: I see now it does not matter, missing this text and the “EndB” near the end do not prevent Blender from opening the file, still compare the files with other .blend you have, maybe you will notice some additions or something missing.

Make sure that you can access the files you have recovered with that feature.

If you have access, you can import some or all of the files into a new project and recover them.

※A simple recovery program will restore files, but we don’t know what kind of damage there is.

Even if you recover through a professional, you may not be able to use the recovered files depending on the degree of damage to the storage device.
