Reduce Noise created by a Subsurface Scattering Shader

Hi

During the last four days I I made some IBC-containers.
As I started making the materials I noticed that if I use a subsurface scattering shader for the tank I get a extreme amount of noise. Ok some Noise is normal but even with a GTX 970 graphic card I cant render a clear image without insane render times. I want to use the models in a very complex and high poly scene so I cant render it with a giant amount of samples. Is where any trick so I can use SSS without getting to much noise???

PS: the tank on the image has no subsurface scattering.
If you have any tips, what i can improve on the materials you also are welcome to post them.

Here’s where Branched Path Tracing will save you lots of time.
Simply set AA Samples to preferred value and up the Subsurface.
eg: AA=64 & SS=32 (2048)

Also look at Reducing noise to further help yourself.
