Reference images are gone

I often use reference images for modelling objects. When I get to certain points in modelling I like to make renders of the objects to see if they look right rendered so far. Well, after I render the reference images are gone in every view, except for camera view. Any solutions?

you mean background images on the 3d views?

/me opens a .blend file with such images

nope, don’t have that problem at all

Make sure you are NOT in perspective mode.
