In my project, I have added reference images. Every time I close the the project (and save) and re-open, my ref images are all missing. They’re not white, they aren’t there at all. In the tool shelf, I can add a new image, but there is nothing there that I added before. On the interwebs, the solution always offered is “you’re in perspective mode, dude”, but that’s not the case for me. The images are just gone, and I’m unsure if I need to somehow save my projects differently or something? I’ve been using Blender for a long time, and this is the first I’ve seen of this behavior.
Maybe you should add a fake user in the UV image editor ?
Or pack them into the .blend file helps ?
Just tried both of these, and neither works. If I save the project, keep it open, and then open a second instance of Blender with that same project, ref image is missing in second instance, but present in the first.
EDIT: just tried making a new project with nothing but a reference image (and my default setup of lights, cam, cube, background). Still the image disappears on a save and reopen.
EDIT 2: Tried another computer, and I could save and reopen with a visible reference image. The other computer did not have my user-settings. When I copied my user settings onto the other computer, the same problem began again. It looks like I may have to start from scratch with my using settings.
EDIT 3: After deleting user settings from its folder (which also deleted the keyboard shortcuts), I’ve found that I can open the troublesome project and the layout is the same as it was before, and I no longer have the image problem. So I guess I could hypothetically delete everything and save this as my new project template, but it looks like I’ve lost my keyboard shortcuts. There must have been something in those that’s causing this issue. I guess I’ll find out as I slowly put them back the way I like them.
Oh, well…
I didn’t thought of that possibility…
Don’t you have an export of your Keyboard shortcuts somewhere? I try to, just in case. I always forget how to set some of thses shortcuts up…
