reflection problem

hi everyone,

I recently did this great tutorial on how to make a realistic grass; then I decided to put a mirrored sphere on the grass, but there is a weird reflection on the sphere. it is reflected as black. can anyone help me to make this right???

thank you!

It’s difficult to see just by looking at that small image. Perhaps you simply have empty space behind the camera, hence why “nothing” is being reflected?

Hi,

Where is the light coming from?

I was not sure if hair particle reflected so I made quick render with hair. It does. How did you set up object layers, lighting and layer, or render pass? What kind of material do your sphere have? Did you map sky reflection on to it?

in the particles panel, look in the render section and make sure ‘strand render’ is not checked. this type of strand renders quicker, but does not show up for ray traced shadows or reflections. might be the culprit…

thank you everyone ! shteeve, you were right, I must have accidentally turned strand render on… now everything is perfect!
