Here’s my non-competing entry for Weekend Challenge #69 (music theme). It’s called “Rehearsal”:
Totally Blender (2.28c), only procedural textures were used. You may notice some “photo grain” effect in the above image. A small percentage is due to jpeg compression, the rest is intentional. I had known you could add textures to lamps, so I tried small cloud textures on certain lamps in the scene for a grainier look. Looks better uncompressed of course. Between that and the slight jpeg compression (5%) there’s an interesting side-effect: a little sense of depth-of-field in the seating behind the conductor.
Well, I hope you like it. I look forward to seeing the other entries for the weekend challenge.
That’s very nice Robertt, but as a violinist, I feel I must point out that you have your bows backwards. What I mean is, it appears that the handle is up in the air.
Here is the tip of my bow, which I have scanned for you:
Cool, Modorn, you’re a violinist! Very nice! Thanks for the scan. I did consult a number of reference images. The rest of the bow is out of frame. I thought I came somewhat close to the bow/tip in terms of resemblance, although if I have some time I’ll go back and refine it so the tip looks more tiplike I didn’t spend as much time on the bow as maybe I should have. The bottom (frog/screw/etc., out of frame) is boxier looking, but I do know the top tip should not have as pronounced an upper tip, if any. Just one too many extrusions I’ll go fix it
Modron, the bow tips have been refined some more. I hope they look better
BTW, I hope to play a real violin some day. I’ve been recording/composing string music (via my synth) for years, and it’s definitely an instrument I’d love to play for real, among others. I play real guitars though (electric 6/7 strings and 5 string bass)
Cool. I hope you stick with it. A lot of people give violin up, because it takes a little longer to learn, and they become frustrated with it. So just keep in mind that you have to keep at it when you start.
Thanks, fishlet! I made armatures for his hands, and I might continue this after the weekend challenge to add the rest of the armatures for animation purposes some time in the future. I have a lot of music I’ve composed/recorded that would fit this scene, so it has some potential if I can find the time to do it
