i am having a hard time with setting up a compositing using view layer etc… I read the user manual but got not clues as to what are the relations between view layer, scene collection and object as shown in the attached pic? I did follow videos but they refer mainly on nodes and not on how to setup the layers for selectively setup the renders in a compositing scene? I am at lost regarding the steps to create a render layer including objects or collections???
I know sometimes things get weird…
The view layers are most like the old render layers in 2.7x series. You should think of the collections as being like tags that you use to label your objects. You could compare the collections to folders too, but unlike folders on a computer, objects can be in more than one collection. When you don’t want a collection to be rendered in a view layer, you uncheck it in the outliner while you are using that view layer.
Thanks for the response. In fact I had issue with the work flow in that one must create the views prior to anything, then remove for each view the collection that contains the object(s) one does not want to render by going back to scene and unchecking these collections… But then one has to create collection for specific objects if needed otherwise they will not be used for rendering with the rest of the objects in that collection… Something is not logic in that process… But anyway I think i got it and thanks for making clear some aspects of it…
