Remember this?

SysAdm here, just stopping by to wish all you (old) Blenderheads a happy Holiday Season…

I found this floating around on some of my old Blender CD’s…

I remember when [email protected] gave this to Ton for a Birthday present… (I think) or maybe a Christmas present… anyways, it always reminded me of the strength of the community… glad to see things haven’t changed in that area…

Keep up all the great Blender works and remember… keep Blendering!!

_______SysAdm

Nice, I guess I missed it the first time. Thanks for showing us.

Glad to hear from you again.

Martin

That is about the coolest thing I have seen in some while.
Blender + Post Modernism = WOW!! :o

Not sure if I remember this composition but I remember many
of the works in it. Thanks SysAdm. What proccess was used to make it?

The technique used here is called a Photomosaic. You can create these with any one of these pieces of software:

JImage Mosaic
http://jimage-mosaic.sourceforge.net/

Mosaik
http://mosaik.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/FrontPage

Tyler 3.2
http://www.soft-ware.net/multimedia/grafik/effekte/p00596.asp

All free. Enjoy!

Well,… hello SysAdm,

where have you been?

hope your going to hang out for a while,
the new code in blender is just starting to
really rock.

good to hear from you again

dale

(im going to guess it was Hiroshis gift to Ton)

Good to hear from you again SysAdm. Nice image too. I don’t recall ever seeing it before.

You still doing any Blender work?

BgDM

I have a smaller version on my PC that does not have very good detail. Thanks for posting the higher res version!! I always prefered that logo. That list of names brings back alot of memories, eh?

And don’t be such a stranger! What have you been up to lately?

whoah!! where are all those people?!! Guillermo S. Romero is one of the most awesome GIMP guys there is. I didn’t know he was a blenderhead also.

hmmm the next tsunami gets ready to roll in

Haven’t seen much of him in recent times but his Blender use goes way back (in relative terms). Here is his entry in the first F1 Challenge (2001). It has always been one of my favorites.

theeth - Glad to see your still hard at it with Blender… Your coding contributions are amazing… still wish Dynamica would have got off the ground.

[email protected] - Been awhile hasn’t it… Glad to see some of the ol Blenderheads are still regulars here… I’m still find myself hitting the “Q” key to quite other apps… LOL

BgDM - I haven’t done a piece in Blender for some time… been so busy with “Reality”… I guess I need to make time…

CurtisS - I have the original 50 meg file of it on CD… I brought the res way down to post here… let me know if you want the HIGH RES version for reproduction or just to keep for ol times… I agree, I miss the old logo… it had a special kind of character to it…

I downloaded 2.31a, and it kicks ass… I love what your doing with the menus and custom THEMES… I guess a lot of users can scratch UNDO off their wish list… I haven’t played with the new RADIOSITY functions.

Now that we can move menus, has anybody played around with dual monitors?.. you know… have the 3D view window on one monitor and all the menus on the other…

Well I guess I need to do what I did in the ol days… skip sleeping so I can Blend!!!

Happy Holidays!!

__________SysAdm

I should add dual monitor support to the Wish List thread going in this forum! THAT I could use!

If possible, could you temporarily post the full res version of the mosaic poster for download? I would love to print a poster of it!

2.31 is pretty nice although it took an “old timer” like me a while to figure out to get to the Lamp buttons… If there is anything “unfortunate” about the new menus it is that I have to use the mouse more than before (with this statement I am likely to get all kinds of hot key advice…).

Glad to see you here. Now get Blending. The 2004 F1 Challenge isn’t too far away!

I use dual monitors all the time… I think I’ve actually spoiled myself. I can’t imagine working any other way.

I’m still around and blending like mad (Jim Heffner). One of my more recent images (not sure how much longer it will be available): http://home.earthlink.net/~surgeprotector/image2.html

Man those were the days, though.

This thread was just wonderful to read. These are the people who built the blender community. It makes you miss the old blender.nl site, but also shows how much blender has grown. I give a round of applause to you guys who made (and are still making) this app like no other in the world. Thanks for making blender more than a program, but a way of life.
“Blend on.”

How very cool! We gave that as a poster to Ton after the first Blender User Conference in Amsterdam.

Hi [email protected],

>How very cool! We gave that as a poster to Ton after the first Blender User Conference in Amsterdam.

I stand corrected :expressionless:

I just want to paint a huge thank you in the buildings of my neigborhood here in Athens. You guys gave to me much more than 3D learning tips & tuts. Personally I am a sillent older member but I apreciate what you did/do for the community.
I wish you everything good in the world!!! [!]
