Remote control of PC running Blender

I’m at times using the “http://www.LogMeIn.com” (service recommended) to remotely control my PC in the office running Windows XP. - Where I run Blender along w/ other programs.

However, the Blender interface only shows up remotely as Black. So I cannot f.ex. make minor adjustments to settings and restart a new animation render.

Is there someplace in Blender I may change settings to mend this so I may remotely control it?

LogMeIn (Pro version = subscription) also allows sharing of the desktop (screen) with another user for discussions. This service is therefore of no use w/ Blender either.

PS -> LogMeIn Pro additionally allows transfer of unlimited size files directly from my PC harddrive to another user for collection of large animations. I just send the client a link generated by LogMeIn Pro. Works like a charm. Very useful.

Yeah, Blender performs poorly using remote desktop on Windows XP for me as well. 2.5 is a little better, you can set the Window draw method. Try changing that option and relaunching.

seems to be the opengl

Thanks to both for answers. However, very cumbersome for me to test the different window settings in 2.5 to make remote screen show. A hint? Automatic/Full/etc. ?

The LogMeIn forum link does not lead me anywhere. Just to a page saying “Moved”. Further links do not work…

Have you tried configuring Remote Desktop Connection? I use this in work to control several computers and does work with blender fine in my experience.

Speeds will vary obviously depending on your broadband speed but for simply configuring blender I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

Good Luck!

Thanks - Might try Remote Desktop too. However, found that UltraVNC (that I once used a long time ago) WILL work with Blender 3D. So I now use that.
