I don’t want to sound like an advertisement but basically you need Turbo Tools (a paid addon) to reduce the flicker of the animation in post (what you need is called temporal denoising) to either setup the scene in a way that causes less light bouncing issues (= less light sources, more light overall, less complex geometry) which I assume is not really possible since you have a specific artistic goal in mind for your animation. You could also, as you suggested, go with higher samples to improve but I strongly recommend Turbo Tools: 🚀 Turbo Tools V4 - including TURBO RENDER for MUCH FASTER Cycles renders!
