Remove horizontal panel?

Hi, this is a very basic question. It seems that there isn’t any way to remove an horizontal panel if there are two panels above it. One solution is to duplicate it to match the layout above, and then collapse both vertical panels. In the example below, i want to remove the timeline panel, so this is how i do it.

There is a better way. If not, how this could be improved? I dont know if this could be posted as a bug in the bugtracker.

This is not a bug. It works as it is designed to. What you want is a new feature, not a bug fixed.

Well, that is the point of the post. I consider this as flaw in the design. A possible solution could be that panels are collapsible completely by dragging the border, just as the ‘toolbar’ and ‘properties’ panels (t & n keys). Now, you cant remove a panel that way, because there is a minimum size allowed.

This may be an unimportant thing to some, but as blender grows, i think it is important to polish these annoyances, so in the future blender keeps being as usable as it is now.

Quicker way to accomplish this is to join the top two panels into one, then join the top panel into the bottom one, then split the single panel horizontally. Additionally, if this is the layout you would prefer to be default, you can choose file -> save user settings, so every time you open blender, the screen layout will be the one you created.
