Render Baking -> Completely Black Image

Hi,
I’ve just downloaded Blender 2.43 RC3, mainly to use the built-in texture baking feature - but it doesn’t seem to be working! No matter what I do (I’ve tried many different texture combinations) I can’t seem to get anything other than a completely black image as the result of a full-render-bake.

Could I be missing out on a crucial step or should I report this as a bug?

Thanks,
Jebus

You have the mesh UV unwrapped and a light source set up? If not, then it won’t do anything for you, afaik.

Yep, ive tried uv mapping and conventional mapping - both with the default light found in the start-up scene. Any ideas?

render baking doesnt work for RC3 for me, but RC2 does

i think they fixed a bug that uncovered another

Fair enough. I’ll wait for the full release then.
Cheers

Looks like the latest release still has this problem. Does anyone know if this is being fixed or where to download an old release that works?

Thanks but doesn’t seem to work here. Using 2.43 Official on WinXP.

I finally got it! My model.obj file already opens with its textured image. Which I could never seem to bake to using Full Render. So I just made a copy of it on my desktop and renamed the image to texture2.jpg and opened it in the UV window and the Full Render bake option worked just fine. :eyebrowlift:
