can you post your blend file as well and which build number and OS do you use.

Having the cache on tends to give sky high memory peaks that will often crash a 32 bit machine on scenes with more than a million polygons.
Brecht is currently not accepting bug reports or suggestions for the branch right now (probably because work on it is not complete)
