Render Problem / Bug?

Hello, I am tryting to render the attached .blend file ( a magnifiying glass, magnifyign a mesh). However, where the glass is I only get a seethrough surface as output. Used Blender 2.3.0 r30581

It would be great if someone could tell me what I did wrong or if this should be working the way I set it up.

Wire materials don’t show with reflection or raytraced transparency. You could use a texture instead. Blendtuts describes a way to work around this in his tutorial:
