Render to animated gif

Okay well this sounds a bit bizarre perhaps.
But i am rendering a small scene write now although i keep resolution high (thats just my habit for detail)
I would in the end like to scale down the png files who make the movie and then convert them into an animated gif.

I wonder if someone has done this before and knows an easy way to do this.
I usually use virtualdub to create an movie mp4 or avi from blenders png files, but it cant make gifs

Since gif files have less colours (but can be dithered), i think this is some different process, and certain ways to achieve this goal might be quicker /better then other ways so maybe someone has some ideas about how to do this.

I use Ps to make gifs. there are sites online that make them for you though. I’m sure gimp could do it. Blender can not do this to my knowledge. Google is always a good place to start with questions like these.

For future googlers:
Blender cannot render directly to Gif. You need to render out an image sequence as usual, and combine them into a gif using another program. To do this in Gimp, go File > Open as Layers, then simply export it with a .gif extension and it’ll show you all the options you need. There are some tricks to reduce the file size such as changing the image color mode to Indexed, but you can google for that separately

I use this.

Its $30, but has been a worthwhile purchase since I do alot of animated .gifs. I bought this program probably 6 years ago.

Why not?

This process works for me just fine. Different version of VirtualDub?
