render turns out black/export to ae?HELP!!

Hello everyone,

i m a filmmaker, very new to 3d also blender,a:eek::eek:
there are numerous small things i cannot figure out, even though i search all the blender forums.

i have built a cube in blender with my mac, also a light(sun), and a camera, some movements as well.everything looks normal in the window, but when i render image/render animation,
it turns out black.i tried open gl render, the cube appears.

also there is one thing i couldnt figure out as well.

i need to import this cube into after effects to do text, movements,
so i download one export addon, link below.
http://www.blender.bartekskorupa.com/-video/109.html

i install everything fine, but when i export the cube from blender into ae,
the thing appear in ae as one comp, inside the comp it has camera and some movement but without the important object-the cube.

is it right that this add on only render movement, so i need to render the cube as png?

or is there any easier way to bring my cube to after effects cs5?

thank you!
i would really appreciate if someone could help, sorry all those are very newbie :oquestion.

is it right that this add on only render movement, so i need to render the cube as png

This is correct, you have to bring in your rendered image sequence as footage into After Effects. The camera is brought in so you can synchronize After Effects 3D layers with the Blender generated footage. But you will never, ever, ever have true 3D objects in After Effects. (don’t even mention zaxworks)

do u mean that, i can only finish 3d model, movement, text and all that in blender?

i am making a product info video, so i need to model the product and do some animation, text and etc, but i figure it might be too hard for me to complete it in blender, so i want to export it to ae and finish up.

is that possible?

You will need to render your 3d footage in Blender. Then take those image sequences into After Effects for additional post. The export you are doing from Blender to AE is so that your AE camera will match the camera in Blender. You cannot bring a Blender scene into After Effects.
