Rendered or Material view when texturing a model for Unity?

Hi all,

I am creating a model/scene that will eventually be imported into Unity. I am currently working on the texturing, lighting and mapping etc. of the model inside Blender and I am wondering if it is best for me to use the ‘Material’ or ‘Rendered’ setting in the viewport as a point of reference when texturing.

Obviously if the final output was to render an image of the model I would use the ‘Rendered’ viewport setting, but as the model will be imported and used within Unity I am unsure which view would be most useful in terms of simulating what the model will look like in the game engine.

I hope this makes sense. I am primarily a filmmaker, and this is my first 3-D modelling project so please be patient with me.

Best,

Jim-Bob
