Rendering becomes purple

Hello to all. My name is Raffaele, and I am an Italian newbie here.

Yesterday I put some textures into my blender model for a project I’m doing for university.

Everything worked just fine and I could get nice renders, until I tried to copy and paste my model on my desktop (it previously was on my dropbox), and, if I tried to render it, the whole “texturized” part of my model became purple (only in the rendered view).

Also, this morning, the person I’m working with, who’s currently in another town, attempted to render the model he found in the dropbox file, and he also noticed it all became purple.

Apparently, I should have done something with the texture linking.

Now: my textures are in a separate file, and my friend doesn’t have them on his computer. I could try and put them on his dropbox, but I fear that wouldn’t solve the problem. Is there a way for me to get back all of the textures in the right place without going through the whole process of UV mapping again?

I already tried the “pack into .blender file”, but I don’t know how it works. I didn’t get any result clicking on it anyway.

Please help me!!

Thank you very much!

When you tried to pack the textures, was the .blend file in the same folder structure as the texture files, and were the texture file references in the .blend file pointing to the textures properly? Make sure the file paths are correct and you should be fine.

When you click on “Pack into blend file”, look at teh upper right f the screen and it will tell you what files were packed. You then also have to save the file afterwards for it to stick.
