Rendering Grease Pencil from Video Sequence Editor (GP in VSE)?

How do we render the gp that we draw in the Sequence Editor? I’d like to use the GP for making tutorials at the last step during video editing.

I know that in 3d view we render the GP with OPenGL into an alpha movie.

I try to view my GP that i draw in VSE while in the 3d view but it doesn’t display

So how do I render the VSE Grease Pencil that I sketch in VSE?

Thank you in advance.

I believe you cannot render GP from VSE. But you can cheat a little by loading your video into 3D view as Background Image. Set image axis to Camera, raise Opacity up to 1.0, and you can draw your Grease pencil strokes in 3D view. When you are done, tweak output settings and render your video with OpenGL Render Animation.

Update: I guess I was wrong, and you can render GP from VSE, but again you should use OpenGL Render Animation, so your video shoud be “ready” (if you have some fancy compositing inserted into VSE as scene strip, you should probably render it first).

Thank you! i was trying to use the “Render> render opengl render image” on the top bar which obviously is devoted to the 3d view (who knew).

So using the bottom bar icons on the VSE view WorKs!

(I still have to fully test it to see if it will render at full quality as I expect)

thank you again and cool bike

I’m glad to help.
