Rendering issues on adding a particle system

I modeled a fairly basic human, as part of going through the manuals, and got most stuff working upto a point where I had tried out softbody, and now wanted to add hair. Strangely though, when I render, only the hair and the vertex group associated render.

Any tips? Thanks in advance.

If the body mesh is the emitter, you must also enable the rendering of the emitter in the particle system itself. I believe it is off by default.

It is on the Visualization TAB of the particle system.
