Jeremy2112,

Just a guess - select the camera, press ctrl numpad 0, then try rendering.

Best of Luck!

If you look at the right side of the screen shot you will see that camera view is indeed selected, via numpad 0…

Jeremy2112,

It looks as if the mesh object is selected, There is a pink outline around it. Try pressing a a couple of times to make sure nothing is selected, then select the camera and press ctrl numpad 0. That is the only thing I can think of. If it still wont work, upload a blend file that I can take a look at.

Female Head not rendering.blend (139 KB)

Jeremy2112,

I fixed it, but I can’t for the life of me determine what caused the problem. Basically, to fix the problem I:

  1. opened the file, and with the head selected pressed shift s cursor to selection
  2. in top view, add a cube mesh
  3. In the links and material panel, I selected the original mesh. So that the new cube object is referencing the same mesh as the original object.
  4. added the mirror modifier
  5. deleted the original head object

This is the same thing as doing an Alt d to duplicate an object that looks at the same mesh, but in this case, alt d did not work.

Like I said, I have no idea what is wrong with the original object, but at least you can continue on knowing that you are completely sane, while I am a little less so.

Best of Luck!

Brilliant. took me a minute to figure out what you did, or how you did it rather. But I successfully replicated what you just did, and although I hope it never comes to it, I now know how to fix my own problem. Thank you very very much.

Jeremy2112,

My pleasure! It may be worth logging this as a bug. It has to be something at the object level that is causing the problem. I tried all of the usual - material settings, camera clipping, applying the mirror modifier, deleting the mirror modifier. Nothing short of the “New Object Container” (for lack of a better term) worked.

For future reference, Jeremy2112 had “DupliFaces” enabled (F7, Anim Settings). Disabling this causes the head to render.

Happy New Year!

TheGryphonRider,

Nice catch - I missed it completely.
