Rendering Problems

Blender is entirely supported by my PC, but still my system crashes everytime I try to Render. It WILL generate a picture, but after it is done, the screen freezes, and after a few seconds my colors go absolutely wrong and my resolution goes back to 640x480, even though my minimum resolution is 800x600. A message says “Sytem Failure. Please Reboot for full syste functionality”. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I’m not a Blender expert, but it sounds like your system is hitting the wall on memory usage. Try rendering a simple scene and seeing if it crashes then. If it dies, I dunno what’s up (maybe the dreaded ATI video card problem?) but if itworks OK, look into getting more RAM.

sounds like a driver conflict. get the latest display driver from nvidia.com or ati.com, as the case might be. (or intel.com?)

also, can you try do some other CPU intensive task and see if this error happens? maybe get 7zip and run the built-in benchmark mode, if you can run that for 30 minutes, that means your computer is stable and not overheating.

I tried both of your suggestions, and it didnt seem to work. However, you were right, it is both my cpu and my old nvidia graphics card. I tried reducing my render size and it seems to work! Thanks!

hmm, can you post the spec for you computer?

cpu? ram? video card? OS?
