Hello, I’m wondering whats the best way to render rain?
It’s difficult to render rain itself, it’s much easier to render a ‘rainy’ environment that sells the idea of rain.
Dark, diffuse light. A scattering volume to give a sense of aerial mist. puddles and sheen on all exposed surfaces.
What type of rain? Close up view that you actually see the drops in detail, or falling rain that is mainly just downward blurs? You could set up a particle system use a simple icosphere then set the number that looks appropriate then advance enough frames that the drops have fallen into view. Then enable motion blur and the icospheres will give the look of falling rain.
Kind of hard to see as it is only a 128 sample render and also only 2000 emitted particles with just a HDRI for lighting.
Hi, i think flying banana solution kind of works . Otherwise, compositing
Mostly just looking for the rain drops falling, ill try the icosphere… What kind of material does it need?
@Addidi compositor…? What would I be doing in there to make rain?
I just used a glass shader and you can tint it whatever color you want.
