Rendering shadow only on ground plane

I’ve imported motion and camera data.
Added the movie as a background.
Added a 3d element.
Set a lamp to replicate the daylight in the movie and aimed it at the 3d element.
Added a floor plane to catch the shadow off the 3d element.

Now I want to render the scene without the floor plane (except the shadow cast by the 3d element)

How is this achieved?

Do I need to somehow map the background movie onto the floor plane?

Enable the “OnlyShad” option for the floor object.
