Rendering VSE videos

Hello everyone, I have just finished my video project using the VSE. All of it was from prerecorded audio and video with no actual 3D animation in it what so ever. (a text strip would be nice to have) I was wondering what kind of rendering settings I should have for a FINISHED product.

This would mean that the audio would have to be rendered with it and the video at its full 720p quality as it was when I first imported it into Blender, and the file shouldn’t be several gigabytes in size; when I used Sony Vegas and AE, I had bad experiences with having a finished render with no compression at all, resulting in a twenty second video three gigabytes in size. :spin: The original video was 187 megabytes, and nothing else was added to it other than some audio clips, so it should remain the same size.

If anyone can help me maintain those three things, that would be wonderful. :eyebrowlift:

Edit: also, should I render it the same way as I would a 3D animation, Ctrl+F12?

Edit2.0: Would it also help to keep bit rate and the like (h.264, AAC audio) the same as the original if not a little more for head room? (I found how to render with audio btw)
Also, to use lossless or not to use losslesss, that is my question (on top of the other questions of course).

H.264? That’s what I use for all my animations produced through the VSE. Internet standards and all. I just use the default settings, but I’m just making videos to bring into Camtasia, where I do my final work (splash screens, transitions, credits, etc).

I never noticed a file size issue with the Blender files. I have a 12 second 1080p short that is only 12MB big, so the compression seems to be pretty good as well.

I’ll just assume that you have to match the bit rates. Thanks though, I found how to do this stuff.

I need some help again. My video appears to render fine, the image actually appears. However, when I go to play the saved file, the image is black. Can someone help? This thread has 99 views, but replies, there is only one. :frowning:

Edit: just tried playing it using a video converter that recognizes nearly all codecs, it displays in the window for that normal but not the MP4 Quicktime view. What could cause that?
