Rendering with a background image in 2.62

I am making the transition from Blender 2.49 to 2.62. Currently, I’m trying to render a model with a background image. In 2.49 I would do this with backbuf.

I discovered that I can add an image texture to the “world” but the aspect ratio of the image is wrong and it is zoomed in. The image is 1280 x 720, and my render dimensions are the same. Is this the wrong approach? Can someone help me out?

Have you set the texture Mapping Coordinates to View and in the World settings select ‘Paper Sky’
This will put the same image in the camera view wherever it is pointing. To have a texture mapped to your 360 degree world you need the correct mapping for your texture (AngMap / Sphere / Equirectangular etc)

“paper sky” did it! Thank you!
