Rendering with Python

I’m attempting to render a video file with python. I’ve done a bunch of testing and rendering png sequences works great. The problem i’m having is try to figure out how to change the settings for FFMPEG. I can change stuff manually but I need to be able to set the format and bit-rate from python.

Basically I’m trying to write a simple script so that all that I have to do is run the script and is sets everything for me renders it.

If need I can post the script that I have now.

that sounds like a neat idea. maybe it is an answer to the not so great render qualitiy and times of the blender render engine etc? Do you think it is faster, neater, simpler, easier, better, clearer, cleaner, crisper, or what?
