The modeling is an exceptionally fine piece of work … well done … and, let’s face it, the texturing is always going to be “much less of an issue.” Railroads always slap a flat coat of extremely-durable paint on everything, and “call it done.”

For a model as beautiful as this, I would hate to stop when it comes to materials! It could really be amazing with some decent UV maps, or even just some procedural textures.

Hi Greg. Awesome model. Could you please tell me a bit of your modeling method? Was it polygonal or subsurf? How many objects made up the train, what is the polycount, etc.

Ok as for what type of modeling I use it depends. If I’m working on a model with flat surfaces and not a lot of fluidity I used mostly polygonal like in this model. As for the objects there are 1443, the faces are 382077, and the vertexes there are 415580.
