I am using Blender as part of my workflow in machining. I have a series of lines forming concentric arcs. The arcs are made of many lines. When I refresh the DXF in Autocad it redraws them every other arc and then goes back and draws the in betweens. The problem is that even after importing and exporting them to my CAM program where I make toolpaths to cut stuff in, the CAM program machines every other line and then goes back to the start to cut the in betweens. Is there a way to reorder or unorder them and reindex these arcs made of lines? Maybe I can use Python and Blender to do this since it is already part of this work flow.
I edited out most of the geometry. The original file is like 60 megs. This is about 400K. Just change the extension from “nc” to “dxf” after downloading. Thanks.
Hi, have you tried exploding the segements in Autocad then doing a polyline edit, then join the individual line segements again? Sometimes that helps. Like you, I use Autocad and Blender for cnc machining! We should chat it up! I just started a new thread on cgtalk in the Blender forums if your interested go check it out! I’m looking for like minded people.
