Repeat part of an 'atlas' texture file

Hi,

I am currently trying to export a model of a train station from Blender into Cry Engine 3. I would like the main building to be a single mesh, because there will be many objects in the scene. Due to this fact, it will be necessary to have multiple textures on the one object. However in Cry Engine 3, I can only assign a single material to the object.

My planned solution to this issue was to use a single ‘atlas’ texture file containing all my different texture images (brick, signs, metal etc), and then to UV map these individual textures to the appropriate faces. Though this brings about a new issue: I cannot tile the textures because my usual method of just scaling the UV box larger than the image brings in the other textures in the atlas.

So my question is: it is possible to tile part of an image texture file?

Thanks in advance,

Rowan

I thought I might be better off asking on the Cry Engine Dev forums, but this really is an issue linked to Blender - whether it is possible to tile part of an image file - because it is the software used to assign the UVs.

I assume that I could just do the tiling to the image file itself in Photoshop, though this would either result in a huge image texture file (>8192x8192) or reduced image quality…

Any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks again,

Rowan
