Repeating yellow guides appear when using Border Select

Blender 2.49b on Ubuntu

When I use the Border Select tool, or when I try to split an area, yellow dotted lines appear as guides and they leave behind a trail of lines as I move my mouse:

Is this something anyone else has seen, and is there a way to turn off these dotted yellow lines. The tutorials that I have watched do not seem to have these lines.

Graphic glitches like this are 99% usually because of your graphics card drivers. See if your card vendor has any recent driver updates. If not you’ll most likely just have to live with it. Note that in the beta releases of the next blender version there appears to be less of these driver issues.

Thanks, Richard. I downloaded and installed the Blender 2.55 beta and the yellow lines are gone. Now I have to learn the new user interface! :wink:

Oh well. I had just started learning Blender anyway, so I don’t have much to unlearn.
