Good evening, My name is Rafael im a pretty newbish animator and im doing an Internship in a young game producing company called Arkavi Studios, they have requested me to produce some animations to their new game prototype that they decided to start, and so they gave me this model " http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/generic-male-02-81493.html " from the website tf3dm just to have something to animate on while they still developed the character 3D Models, i have already finished most of the animations and the main character 3D model is now finished, and here comes the problem, the new Model is still a Human male but the Arms, Shoulders, feet, knees etc. are in diferent positions because the physic of the Character itself is diferent when i adjust armature(bones) to those new positions and try playing the animations that i made in the other model they turn out all wierd with some similarities but also some wierd as hell movements, is there any viable way to use animations already done in a similar model in another model without them turning out all wrong? and if so how do i do it? are there any specific tutorials?
Thanks for your time and forry for any spelling mistake, English is not my primary lenguage.
I’m thinking no, you can’t resize an armature and use the same animation data on it.
Did you use the same armature for both models, or did you re-create the same armature in the 2nd model? If you appended the armature from the 1st character into the 2nd, it might work. But if you created a 2nd armature in the 2nd character file, your weird animation problems might be because the bone’s roll angles don’t match up between model 1 and model 2.
Hello revolt, thanks for the help, and yeah i used the same armature for the second model, but i had to resize some bones for the second one, and that most likely why the animations come out diferent than they should. So either i should try to edit the second model to be in a similar position to the 1st model OR redo part of all animations in the 2nd model that i already created in the 1st model right? i just thought that between game developers they had a method of doing this correctly, but you are most likely right.
