I have a background rendered in a specific layer . I want to render it only once each 8 frames and so use/retain the result for the next 7 frames.
I animated/keyframed this option …

Problem is : for the frames where the layer is not rendered, the background disappear from the render Layer . The render of the background is simply not retained .
How can i retain the background layer render and use it even when not rendered ??
So basically , can the render layer can work like an input picture that would be “refreshed” only if i decide to render it again ?
So the compositing system has a 1 frame working space ? We are doomed to save the output in picture files each time if we want to compose with some frame shift ?
Also, if i export :
background001.png ,
background002.png ,
background005.png ,
… and then use the Import images sequence node, the node will just stop import after the 002. Would have like that the node was smart enough to import all and then associate the number with the frame when composing.
Hard to believe that Blender’s design cannot handle frame shift while composing
Better would be you render the background layer in a different scene and use step under output settings. There you can set the number of frames skipped between renders.
