Retro spaceship...

This is my first try with Blender… I am not new in 3D but new in Blender. Its 2.5 version with its new ui made me focus on it. Blender was long before its mentioned version a very powerful app, no doubt, but its ui prevented me from using it… now things has changed altogetherly, however. : - )

The modelling has been made totally in Wings 3D, my favourite modelling app, and all the staging, material applying, texturing etc has been made in Blender.

I do call it ‘retro’ because as a shape it has something from the old good British ‘Thunderbirds’, ‘Fireball XL5’ and ‘Stingray’ approach… the so much loved sf comicbooks of my childhood years.

Comments and crits are welcome, of course…

Sweet looking Supermarionation model, and suitably rusty! Just not digging the windows to much. Did you make the paint yourself?

Thanks 3pointEdit… No, the texture is from a seamlessly tiled good rusty metal hull photo… I did edited it a lot of course but it is a photo. It is applied in different colored versions by a ‘flat’ and ‘cylindrical’ projection on the objects, having different bump and specularity maps. There is no uv unfoldment at all (the whole image has been made as an illustration only… not for animation use). I am still in a learning process as to the use of Blender’s tools… : - )

I am putting below an orthographic top view render too, just for showing its shape in a more perceptible way…
