Reusable animated objects - do they exist?

Hi,

I have a fair degree of experience modelling objects and composing them into static scenes. I have gathered a number of these objects into libraries in order that I can append them and use them in future projects.

I have only just started to learn about animation however. What I would like to be able to do would be to create a number of simple animated objects and reuse them in the way I use static objects. An example would be something like a sphere that expands briefly from a point before disintegrating in a shower of sparks. I’d like to be able to append such spheres at various points along the timeline of a larger animation, showing them at different scales maybe.

Is this something that is possible in blender?

Thanks in advance …

Totally possible  you can mark these things as assets and use them anywhere with the asset browser

Thanks - that’s encouraging. But what ‘things’ do I mark as assets?
Looking elsewhere, it seems that what I am looking for are Actions.
