Which is Blender and which is yafray?
A
B
Stefano
it’s a sphere with interesting texture! (and horrible background)
.b
It’s a chrome sphere, so it reflects the background
Stefano
Wouldn’t say chrome, more like a very polished mirror
I voted:
A is yafray, B is blender.
The one which apply coughtexturecough to it is blender
Hey, glad to see my tutorial helped you S68!!
I think the first one is Blender, due to the poorer AA on the BG image in the first render.
BgDM
i think the first one is yafray because if you save them to your hard drive and swap back and forth between a and b a looks cleaner or crisper(i cant really think of how to explain what i mean but if you do that you will see the difference)
A is Yafray and B is Blender. A has more glow to it and looks as though it is collecting the light from a large area, whereas the blender envmap (as always) looks a little dull.
Of course I could be wrong.
Edit:
Isn’t it strange how (so far) no one has chosen the “both yafray” option. Is this a reflection on people’s views of yafray or people’s views of S68 (Stefano)???
Would he ever set a problem designed to belittle Blender’s internal renderer???
Hmmmm…Psychology in action…
Both Blender.
B is yafray. I can tell from the shadows. Otherwise, they look remarkably similar.
<edit> I take that back, I can’t tell. <shrug> after looking at them again, they appear nearly identical, except for one is more saturated.
hmm, I’m guessing that A is yafray and B is blender, since the reflection in the sphere in A looks more like “real” HDRI to me (more light from the clouds). But I don’t know if the background is really HDRI, and even if it was, the difference could just be the output settings!
What I’d really like to see though, is a complicated scene where I still can’t tell the difference, with lots of diffuse light, reflections in different surfaces and so on…
Good point.
The only difference I can see is the bottom-left corner of the pic and the color of the earth in the reflection. I’ve been studying them for a good long while now and my Missus wants to know… why?
%<
A is blender due little worse background filtering (bilinear)
B is yafray, background looks like bicubic filtered (or similar…)
I really don’t remember if blender supports bicubic or yafray doesn’t… so…
Mmmm,
I think I’ll let people guess for some more time
Stefano
P.S. Yup, why noone chose ‘Both Yafray’ ?
S68 the differences between the two thast i notice are this.
one of the background images has more diagonal pixel type shapes type type you see in blender OpenGL previewmode. the bottom ones are slightly more blured. as similar effect to turning up the filter in the env map/image option in the texture buttons.
the colours of the chrome balls are also different by a slight amount.
all the differences could be achived in the same programs by changing a few settings.
i don’t know which is which and think they could both be the same file with a few tiny tiny settings changed.
but really i don’t care that much LOL (not to sound mean) but these riddles are too much ha ha ha, more like “lets see if we can confuse people and make them guess wrong/trick em”
i do however like riddles of the “how did i make this” variety as they are not likely to be tricks/ cornerings. (or they could have multiple ways to make them that are good)
anyway i say both blender coz you are to lazy to raytrace them
Alltaken
hehe, I thought raytracing WAS the lazy way to do things!
Just for argument sake (and to be the only one), I’m gonna vote for both Yafray…
Ok
SOLUTION
A is YafRay
B is Blender
