Rigging a Grappling Hook: Small Issue

I have a little set-up for a grappling hook for a Batman character. Basically, the grappling hook rope is a Mesh, and to get it to fire out in correct patterns, it has a Curve Modifier on it, and so it will follow the Curve.

However, I’m having a frustrating little issue with the actual spear on the tip of the rope. This is kind of trivial, but it’s become very frustrating. So below is a screencap and the .Blend. If anybody has any good solutions, that’d be great. (Here’s the .Blend: http://www.pasteall.org/blend/17887)

Well, I have mostly solved this (mostly) with some help at the Blender IRC channel.

There were (and remain) a few challenges unique to this arrangement. But I think that one straight mistake I made was making the rope (which is a cylinder Mesh) the Child Of the Curve that it was supposed to follow. I think that what was happening was that, as I was trying to correct the starting point for the Rope’s stretching (which is crucial with a Curve Modifier), this “Child Of” relationship was screwing everything up. So I cleared that, and eventually things got to working. (Again, mostly. The angle of the spear is still kinda screwy.)

Anyway, I was proud of this overall, but that one final problem was just very aggravating. Thanks to any readers who put effort into assisting.
