rigging and fur

There are lots of rigging tutorials out there so not wanting to get into any long discussions on how to rig. But I was wondering if any of you blender artists out there had any tips for finalizing your model before rigging begins.

For instance I am now ata stage of rigging but have come across a question regarding fur and meshes I cannot find the answer anywhere.

All of the particle systems have the option to convert to an object. Should I do this before I begin rigging or leave it as is?

There’s no real reason to convert at all, leaving hair and fur as particles is fine all of the way to the end of the pipeline unless you really need hair to be mesh-based for some reason.
