Rigging issues - resolved


I’ve been using Blender for a bit over a decade and having moved from ~2.5 to 2.69 i’m finding the mesh -> parenting being a bit of an issue.

When i select the top clock hand bone, disconnect it, remove all inherits, and click the mesh to start weight paining i’m finding that it only allows me to paint for the OTHER bone although they don’t have anything to do with each other. What am i doing wrong?

Have you set up vertex groups for your mesh?

No, I haven’t since i want to manually paint what’s assigned to what.


The problem was 2.69 requires you to select the posed bone then shift+select the mesh to manually add weights while 2.67 and the previous versions don’t require shift+select, and you could just click between the bone for pose and the mesh for weight.
