Rigging mechanics....

Ok, so I’m having a bit of a problem. I want to rig a mechanical robotic walker. I really haven’t ever rigged anything, I’m not very good with IK’s so, does anyone have any tips? I’ve already made some hydraulics, they were a pain, working around the constraints and parents and all, I do know that it is important to have the object’s centers together, but here is then thing I’m worried about… Am I going to need to join all of the meshes I made for the individual parts?

No, you can parent each seperate Mesh Object to the Bone that controls it; with the Armature in Pose mode select the Mesh, Shft-Select the Bone, Ctrl-P >> To Bone.
