I have rigged up a nifty Mermaid character but I have this one vert that seems to be connected to every bone. I have spent a few hours trying to figure out how to fix it and am at the point where I am about to nuke the rig and start over. But I figured I come out here and see if you gurus have any ideas. In the image you can see the issue easily enough. Now compund that to the fact that every single bone seems to want to move this same vert.
Any help you guys n gals could offer would be helpful.
Thanks!

No need to nuke your model, just go into weight paint mode, find the bone or bones that are affecting the vert (rotate the bone in weight paint mode or put your caracter in to extreme poses )and set the vertex weight to zero.
That is what I was trying to do. There is no weight associated with the other bones. Just a strange bug I guess. I nuked it and started over. thanks for your feed back though.
Peace
Don’t start over…post a .blend for people to play with, they maybe able to fix it, I know I would like to check out this problem…
My apologies for not replying sooner. (Christmas duties and all) I had already un-parented the mesh from the Armature and then re-parented it (using bone heat). It worked the second time around. Not sure exactly what happened the first time I did it. I can without any room for doubt say that the fouled vertices had no connection to the other bones. I had selected the entire hand in Weight paint / Edit and removed them from every other bone. But they still persisted to move with every bone. Some ghost in the machine.
thanks for the replies.
