Rigging Practice- a piston

Hello, while working on the Demolisher Robot proyect of mine, I realized that I didn’t a have a clue about how to do mechanical rigging. Therefore, I looked a video tutorial explaining how to do so in Google, and stumbled upon this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY-txBe0yyg , and I’m rigging a piston as practice, so that when I actually rig the robot, I don’t make silly mistakes.

Here’s the piston; I’ll post the animation when it’s ready, both in this forum and in the animations forum:

Hope you like it!

A cool “trick” you can use in robots is to have something like a piston inside the elbow or knee joints…really good for those chicken leg mechwarriors. The piston doesn’t actually do anything, it’s just a couple of cylinders that slide into each other. They stay straight via “track to” constraints… no armature needed.

Thanks! I’ll be sure to use that on my current project.
