Right codec for rendering video?

Hello all,

I am trying to render a sequence of .pngs as a video. The trouble is, when I set the file format, choose the encoding settings, and render, 9 times out of 10 my resulting video is unplayable. Am I using the wrong encoding settings, or is there something I need to download? What file format and codec do you use for your sequencing renders?

What are your encoder settings and what are you trying to playback the video on?

Render to H264 or xVid. These are low impact final delivery codecs. Other codecs are often used to archive a video in a single file while still offering a bit of compression to reduce file size yet still maintain quality for future editing.

Ah, I see what I was doing wrong. For some reason it only plays in VLC. Thanks for the help,guys!
