Rigify armature disappears in Object and Pose mode

I am facing a problem with my rigify rig. It was generated and parented, all bones were working, everything was ok. I saved and closed the file and now when I open it a few days later… I can’t see the armature or move it at all. It is only visible in edit mode.

No alt + h works, I tried it so many times these keys will fall out of my keyboard soon. I’m not in a local view, the armature is there, not hidden, not disabled as far as I know. I think I tried to follow every possible solution I found on the Internet and nothing is working.

I tried creating new file, copying this one, appending models and rigs - no luck.

This is Blender 3.0.

Please help :c

Hi and welcome, can you post a screen shot showing your setup?

Sorry, I’m a dummy, took a few and forgot to add them xD

It only lets me share one media item per post…

One better then non.

Try setting the bones in front of mesh and look in wireframe can you see it then?
You also may have to run the rigify script to see the controlls.

All bones are set in front, neither wireframe viewport nor xray mode help.

How to run the scripts? I have them set to run automatically, but I’ve never really done any scripting in Blender.

I will make a screen shot but in the meantime try showing selecting the rest of the bones see image:

Look at the screen shots one for the script and one for showing the bones.

As I’m limited with screenshots, I recorded differet actions, so you can see better what’s going on. Please, let me know if the link works.

Also, really thank you for spending your time trying to help me, I really appreciate that!

The avi is working and i can see your problem but i don’t have any idea looks like a bug.
Try to open in newer version of blender but don’t save as it could mess up you shader trees.

I will try. Again, thank you for your time and effort!

Can you share your file?

There you go. It may be a complete mess at this point since I was really trying to fix it. I feel like giving up and just rerigging it :c

I looked briefly at your file. I didn’t use blender 3.1 which I think you have.

Make sure whatever version you used you use the same version throughout the process because using a newer version on an old file will bring up compatibility issues. First off you have two armature modifiers. Somehow you messed up between the two armatures. So what I would do is save your file in case you mess up again. Bring up the file and rename it something else so you can always go back. Delete your armature modifiers.
Select your mesh and clear your parent. Now go into your blend file and delete the unneeded metarig, you have two in your file and you don’t want to mess them up. -Delete the one you don’t want. Go into your text file and delete both of your ui_py… scripts. Go back to the blend file select all your widgets and delete those. Delete your rig and rig.001 from your blend file. Select your mesh and make sure you have no deform vertex groups. If you have some delete them.

If you have done everything correctly, then you should have a clean file. Select your metarig and generate a new rig. Hide your metarig. Parent your new rig to your mesh. You can try automatic weights but I don’t know what kind of a machine you have. Your mesh is really heavy and it may take awhile. you will need to adjust the weights anyway. If you know how to weight paint just parent it using empty groups and manually weight them. If you have trouble post back or PM me. I remember having a similar issue and it was a campatibility issue between vesions. This may not be what you did but I am on the latest version and used that to look at your file.

I know the rigging doesn’t work well between 3.1 and 3.4.
If you have issue post back or PM me and I can help you out.

EDIT: I tested your file and it’s exactly the issue described below. Fix your metarig as described in the video, then regenerated. That should solve the problem.

Most likely, the original file was created with Blender 3+ but you are trying to open it in 2.93 or earlier. Or you already opened and saved it in 2.93 which caused the compatibility problem. Now even if you open it in 3+ the issue will be there.
Here is how to solve it:
