Rigify broken

So I’ve “rigged” a hand with Rigify and automatic weights. Needless to say it’s a complete and utter mess. Went to “fix” the weight painting but I have no clue which bone I am supposed to repaint. Again, the painting is all over the place and the names do not match. For example I’m moving “hand_tweak_R” but there is no group with such name.

The mesh is weighted to the DEF_ bones, all the other bones are either used for the setup/functionality of the rig or as controllers.


To fix the weight painting you should isolate the DEF bone collection first, also, I’d suggest to not use automatic weights, in most cases you’ll spend more time cleaning up the weights.
