Rigs in Multiple Objects

Hello All!

I’ve recently taken the rigging tutorials (at blender.org and in a couple of books) but all seem to work on a sigle mesh. Is it possible to rig multiple objects as one? Example: I have a character that is made of several objects, not a single mesh. Do I have to convert to a single mesh before adding an armature? I’d like to keep the objects independant so I can edit them if need be based on movement.

Can anyone point me to an example of this?

You can apply a single armature to any number of mesh objects.

You can add an “Armature” modifier to each mesh. And make all the objects’ “Armature” modifiers point to the same armature.
