Ring selection tool - exist?

So basically I’m asking if there is a selection tool in the shape of a ring? Not a circle, a ring. That is to say something like this:

Where everything marked in red is selected.

Couldn’t you simply circle-select the entire area, reduce the circle diameter and then circle-deselect the inner part?

Alt right click selects edge loops, and this might just possibly be all that you are asking for!

Druban - I’m talking about a lot of small models. That wouldn’t work.

Ikar - I could, but I’m looking for a simpler method since I’m using this tool a lot.

In vertex-select or edge-select mode: select one edge of your ring then select>edge ring.
