Ripping parts of the single rigged object apart in animation.


Im kinda new to Blender (and its my 1st 3d creative experience) and slowly but steadily absorb more knowledge about it. Today i have encountered another problem, well maybe not even a problem, but im totally lost of how to do it optimaly.

I have this little object made:

and im currently playing with simple animations. And i wonder how would you advice me to proceed with it if i would want to make an animation of that zombie to die, collapse, fall apart. I have pretty good idea of how to do the 2 first htings, but i dont know how do i make the rigged thing that is single object, to fall apart, disconnect and become parts of the zombie. What is the optimal way to proceed in such situations?
