Ripstring's FiberGUI and Zero Faces Estimated?

This one is very perplexing.

I’ve downloaded and played with Ripstring’s handy FiberGUI script and blend file. Now I can get the .blend (Fiber13.blend) to work perfectly…however, I seem to be having real issues with importing the scripts into my .blend.

I went through most of the google and Elysiun postings, and think I’ve addressed all the typical problems, this one has just got me stumped.

I can load and execute the script, however when I select the Estimate button, I get “0 faces estimated”

After some research I determined I needed to have vertices painted to tell the script where to put grass, ok, I did that (much fun BTW!) and still, “0 faces estimated”.

There must be something simple I am missing, I’ve attached a screen capture here, anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

You seem to have done everything necessary. Is the mesh selected?

The faces also need to be big enough to generate a mesh (and yours seem to be big enough). Try scaling the mesh bigger and do Ctrl-A. You can scale the generated mesh down if it generates.

Yep, selected all the verts and hit generate.

I’m really stumped…

And it was a good blend file too!

I have had similar problems. Mine seemed to be linked to scale. Try scaling your object way up and then try it.

Whoa, when you guys said “scale it up, way up” you meant it.

I had to make that plane enormous to get the fiber script to function. (Note to self, don’t subdivide so much next time.)

So, thanks for all you help, perhaps the post will help someone else in the future.

Instead of scaling, you could also have adjusted the density setting in the script. You may have to REALLY raise it, but it will work. It has to do with the script calculating density based on Blender world units, not on the relative size of your mesh.

Hi, I don’t know if this helps but I wonder if you know that there is a newer version of the Fiberscript available (Version 2.02). Have a look here
