We have NOT been told or asked to move farther inland. Galveston and Houston have been. Local Houston News Reports that ALL Katrina Evacuees are or should be gone from Astrodome by tonight. Moving them to Arkansas I think.

Alltaken I know people want to blame Global warming for the Hurricanes…Do your Homework and Google for the Hurricane of 1900 that hit galveston…It was a Cat 5 I think…Wiped the whole island out. I dont think the world had global warming back then. So this argument is dead…
Im going to tread gingerly here…mainly because Im aware that this hurricane isn’t going to affect me, but saying the argument is dead based on the fact that there was a hurricane in 1900 is a bit short sighted, to say the least.
Current studies seem to suggest that climate change is not making hurricanes more frequent, but is having a profound effect on hurricane length, and intensity.
but blah…enough about this…I wish you, your family and your friends the best of luck

Most weather forecasters don’t think this is due to global warmer. Its now easy to blame floods, hurricanes, drought, blizzards and tornados on global warming. However, a number of studies have shown that the weather is no more extreme now than it has been in the past, and the weather is often extreme.
In the 40’s, 50’ and 60’s there were far more serious hurricanes in the gulf than there has been for the past 30 years. So the weather is returning to a historic pattern, which could last for another 20 years.
In other parts of the world, occurrances of hurricanes having been decreasing.

My church just bought a building for the katrina huricane victoms. We’ve named it the compassion center, it can hold about 40 famlies of four. We fixed it up and made it five star hotel quality, seems like we’ll be getting more people. A bunch of people from Louissiana were evacuated to Houston and now every body in Houston is being evacuated
Enriq766, good luck there. Be sure when you’re going into a hatch that you have nothing above you. If the water raises or something falls on the hatch door, you’re screwed.
Btw about the global warming. A lot of people blame the bad waether for that. Totally nonsens. Sure the global warming is here, and 10.000 years ago it ws here as well. The stuff we produce make the process only a little faster, but believe me it’s not only us.
10.000 years ago it became on a lot of northwards places 35/40 degrees and a few years later the climat dropped down to -20 or even -40 degrees which we called the Ice Age.
What happens is, that the world warms up more and more to cool down aftherwards which could create the next Ice Age.
I’ve also noticed that in Holland we could skate on ice every where 10 years ago. Rivers, lakes and much more. The normal tempreture in the winter was around -10.
Now since 10 years the winters are really warm, started with -5, -1, 0 and last year even in midwinter +15.
Personally I think that the people who have skated on natural ice 10 years ago in Holland, well remember that because the next 20 years we won’t be able to do that again. You’ll be sitting in your garden with +25, reading a book in midwinter.

Im not trying to start a debate, but people like you it seems love one. It seems no matter what someone says here there will always be that guy who thinks they know better. “your gonna get hit by a hurricane, well its global warmings fault lets debate this!” Just why do you have to do that all the time. Untill then I just wanted to share with other Local South Texans and what we will be going through. I will get my expert opinions from CNN.
I was in Houston a few years ago and I stayed with a couple over there. They took me to see people around that area including Galveston. I hope they and all you others who live there will be OK. As I remember, the land is pretty flat so winds and floods are pretty devastating.
I also recall most of the houses being wooden. I guess that makes them cheaper to rebuild but they don’t hold up well to extreme weather. I remember seeing on TV an old couple whose house was destroyed but they didn’t have insurance and they are two old to get a loan or work. Very sad.
Yeah I hate those environmentalist fanboys, cycling everywhere trying to break off car doors, little realising the laws of momentum :P.
They’re all like don’t wipe your a$$ with this paper it damages the rainforest, try this recycled junk that feels like tree bark and just kinda smears everything around.
Pfft, I’d rather have a hurricane for a week than years of having a sore a$$.
